Foraging FAQ
Where will we meet?
Our meeting point for the walk will usually be listed under the event description, and if it isn't it will be emailed to you after you have placed your booking (you will receive an automated purchase confirmation email, but then you will also receive an email from Mila with key info for your walk). I will also send a reminder email the week before the event with handy information for our walk.
Can I bring my children?
Unless it is a "Family Friendly" event, these events are suitable for adults only.
On family friendly walks, children must be supervised by their parent or responsible adult at all times.
Babies in prams are welcome but please let me know beforehand so I can adjust our route.
What if I have dietary requirements?
Our wild tasters and snacks will always be vegetarian or vegan but unfortunately I cannot cater to gluten-free, coeliac diets and serious allergies (e.g. nuts).
Please let me know at the time of booking if you have any dietary requirements or allergies - this is important as not just the food but some of the plants we encounter on our walks may not be suitable for you.
You are welcome to bring your own allergy-friendly food on the walk if you cannot share the pre-made foraged snacks I make.
What should I wear?
Please dress for the weather! Sun cream and a hat if it's hot, waterproofs and walking boots (and perhaps a change of clothes) if it's raining, you get the idea.
The walk will only be cancelled due to weather if an extreme weather warning is forecast.
What happens if the walk gets cancelled?
Walks may be cancelled if an extreme weather warning gets issued, a little bit of rain won't stop us! You will have the option to book onto another walk or receive a full refund.
In the rare event that I am unable to facilitate the walk due to illness you will be offered a place on another walk or issued a full refund.
I can't make the event anymore, what do I do?
Please email me at info@milasapothecary.co.uk with 3 weeks notice if you cannot make the event anymore and I can book you onto another event or process a full refund.
If the event is less than 3 weeks away, I cannot issue refunds and it will be your responsibility to sell your ticket or gift it to a friend or family member.
I know life can throw something unexpected at us sometimes so if you cannot make the event due to extenuating circumstances please email me and I'll see what I can do.
What should I bring?
Please bring a bottle of water, and a notebook and pen if you'd like to take notes. Taking photos is welcomed, and I'd love it if you tagged me with your photos @milasapothecary on Instagram.
Will we be gathering?
We won't be gathering lots of foraged finds on these walks. We will be focusing on identification, picking a few examples to pass round the group to touch, smell and taste.
Will your walk be accessible for wheelchair users?
Generally our route will be flat but there may be uneven or muddy ground and steps which could make it difficult. Please get in touch about a particular walk and we can discuss it.
Can I bring my dog?
I love dogs! Others in the group might not feel comfortable around them though so please leave your dog at home. As we tend to go slowly and stop to chat about plants a lot it probably wouldn't be very exciting for your dog anyway.
Please also have a read of the terms and conditions here before booking onto a walk.
