Summer Afternoon Foraging Walk 26th July - Bishop's Stortford

£30.00

Have you ever been curious about the plants growing around you and wanted to learn how to identify them when you’re out exploring?

Come and join expert forager Mila on a summer foraging walk, ideal for complete beginners and those who are fairly new to foraging.

Please have a read of all the information below before booking.

You’ll have the chance to touch, taste and smell a variety of wild plants, discover where they like to grow and how to identify them confidently, as well as how to look out for any poisonous lookalikes.

Here’s the itinerary for the event:

We will begin with talking about safe, sustainable foraging and the laws surrounding it

Then we will go for a gentle walk around the fields, meeting wild weeds, flowers, fruits, and trees

You will discover the edible and medicinal uses of these plants, as well as their historical uses and the folklore surrounding them

At the end of the walk we’ll gather together to eat some light foraged snacks made with previously foraged ingredients inspired by our walk, and there will be an opportunity to chat and ask questions

In the week following the event you will be emailed a list of the plants we’ve discovered and some book recommendations so you can continue along your foraging journey.

This walk will be limited to a small group of us to provide a more intimate setting and allow for people to ask questions and get to know each other. Please note, this will not be a gathering session so no containers or baskets will be necessary.

After booking, please drop me an email info@milasapothecary.co.uk if you have any allergies, dietary requests or if you are pregnant. I will send you a reminder email a week before the event to confirm the above as well as send over the event key info.

Bishop's Stortford. We will meet outside Grange Paddocks Leisure Centre CM23 2HH, where there is parking available. Car Park B is free for 2.5 hours, however, since the event is scheduled to last for 2.5 hours I would recommend purchasing a ticket. Our meeting point is approximately a 15 minute walk from Bishop’s Stortford train station or the town centre. Northgate End and Jackson Square car parks are also a short walk away.

The event will run from 2pm - 4:30pm, but if it's a nice day you might like to stay a little longer to chat!

The walk will be slow and mostly flat and we will go at the pace of everyone in the group, however depending on weather the route may be muddy in places, there may be uneven ground, and we might be crossing the occasional footbridge or using steps. Please email me info@milasapothecary.co.uk if you have any questions.

Please come prepared with comfortable, sturdy shoes, a raincoat if it's raining, a hat if it's hot and sunny... You get the idea!

Please also bring a bottle of water. You may also like to bring a notebook and pen in case you want to take some notes.

The treats provided at the end of the walk will be suitable for vegans/vegetarians, however unfortunately I am unable to cater to other dietary requests or allergies. Please let me know ahead of the walk if you have any allergies or dietary requirements as some plants we encounter and the snacks provided may not be suitable for you.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding please let me know by emailing info@milasapothecary.co.uk ahead of the walk as some plants we find may be contraindicated during pregnancy, and if you need to go slower during the walk please let me know.
